Technology in the Classroom: Some Positive Changes This 6-page postgraduate essay argues that technology in education is largely a positive change, as it improves dissemination of knowledge and information, two key aspects of education. This paper concludes that although technology is not ideal - it is expensive to buy and replace in some cases, and a clear difference still exists in the level of technological integration available in generously-funded and less advantaged schools - it still provides some of the most exciting opportunities for schools. Specifically, technology can be used within the education system to support curriculum, instruction and assessment, and to support professional development. It can be used to increase productivity, facilitate communication and collaboration, encourage the building of community and a connection with parents. It offers a chance for promoting diversity and equity of access. In each role, the newest forms of technology intended for classroom use strengthen and with facilitate the networks of information and knowledge exchange, which are integral to learning.
