Examining the Effectiveness of Patient Assessment Programs: A Review of the Literature and a Hypothetical Study. This paper provides a review of the literature available on patient assessment in organized health care in the form of a hypothetical study design. The health care industry does not typically utilize patient assessment as a form of preventative health care. However, proponents of patient assessment programs suggest that it is actually more cost- effective to implement patient assessment programs to evaluate the overall health of a patient, rather than to wait until the patient exhibits symptoms independent of monitoring.
