Culture And Ideology: A Comparison Of South And North Korean Experiences. This paper will discuss the cultures of South and North Korea as products of the political upheavals of the mid-twentieth century. It will be argued that while the culture in the south is profoundly ideological in its Korean nationalism, in response to both the presence of American forces and the lingering memories of the Japanese occupation, the culture of the north is essentially political in that all aspects of the life of the people are subordinated to the Juche system that reinforces the totalitarian regime of the "two Kims". 9 pgs.
